How it works

1

Upload your artwork

Choose one square image. It's checked to make sure it's a genuine, readable image before anything is generated.

2

Icons are created on your device

Standard icons are cropped edge to edge; the maskable icon keeps your artwork inside a safe zone so it isn't cut off by a shape mask.

3

Download and use them anywhere

Save each icon individually or download the full set at once, ready for any website, PWA, Android or iOS project.

A web icon creator for any website, app or PWA

Every website and app needs a small set of icons to look finished and trustworthy: a favicon for the browser tab, a home-screen icon for phones and tablets, and larger versions for splash screens and app listings. Doing this by hand usually means opening an image editor, resizing an image multiple times, cropping it square, and exporting each size separately. This tool does all of that in one step — upload an image once and get a complete, correctly sized icon set back immediately.

Who uses a web icon generator

  • Web developers adding a favicon and app icons to a new site
  • Progressive web app (PWA) developers who need a home-screen icon
  • Android and iOS developers who need square source artwork for an app icon
  • WordPress, Shopify and website builder users setting a site icon
  • Browser extension developers who need icons in several sizes
  • Designers turning a logo into a ready-to-use icon set

Favicon, app icon or PWA icon — what's the difference?

A favicon is the small icon shown in a browser tab. An app icon is the larger icon shown when a site or app is added to a phone's home screen or an app launcher. A PWA icon is simply an app icon used by a progressive web app, and a maskable (or adaptive) icon is a version built so that a shape mask — like Android's rounded square or circle — never crops off the important part of the artwork. Most projects end up needing all four.

Getting a sharp result

Icons are generated at the exact size they'll be displayed, using high-quality scaling, so edges stay crisp instead of blurry. Starting from a square image of at least 512×512 pixels gives the best result across every size in the set, since the largest icon is created directly from your original artwork rather than stretched up from a smaller one.

Frequently asked questions

What is a web icon and why does my site need one?
A web icon is the small image that represents your site or app — in a browser tab, on a phone's home screen, in search results, or in an app switcher. Without one, browsers and operating systems show a generic placeholder instead of your brand.
What is a favicon?
A favicon is the small icon shown in a browser tab, bookmarks list and browser history next to your site's name. It's typically a small square image, such as 32×32 or 48×48 pixels.
What sizes of app icons do I actually need?
Most modern web apps need a small icon for browser tabs, a 192×192 icon for home screens and app launchers, and a 512×512 icon for splash screens and app-store style previews. Android also benefits from maskable versions of the 192×192 and 512×512 sizes.
What is a maskable or adaptive icon?
Android and some other platforms can crop an icon into a circle, rounded square or other shape depending on the device. A maskable icon keeps your artwork inside a safe zone near the center so it survives that crop instead of losing important content at the edges. This is sometimes called an adaptive icon.
Can I use this to make app icons for Android and iOS?
Yes. The generated files are plain image files with no platform-specific code attached, so they work as source artwork for Android app icons, iOS app icons, browser extension icons, desktop app icons, or any website.
Is this icon generator really free, and is there a watermark?
Yes — it's completely free to use, and the icons you download carry no watermark, branding or attribution requirement.
Do I need to create an account?
No account, email address or sign-up is required. Upload an image and generate your icons right away.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Every resize and crop happens locally on your own device, inside your browser. Your image is never sent to, or stored on, any server.
What image formats can I upload?
PNG, JPG and WEBP images are supported. A square PNG with a transparent background usually gives the cleanest result.
What's the difference between a favicon and an app icon?
A favicon is the small icon shown in a browser tab, while an app icon is the larger icon shown when a site or app is added to a phone's home screen, an app launcher, or an app-store style listing. Most projects need both.
